Expecting too much might result in a great deal of discomfort and disappointment. The need of being "good enough" often involves ourselves as well as the things we create. "l e s s" is an attempt to lose the requirements and constraints of genre, both conceptually and formally and to focus on whatever feels right. SMTHN's new EP ask the postmodernist questions of how to remain sane in the increasingly insane world, how to set our own boundaries in the society sinking more and more into excess. These five imperfect, dipped in hiss and distortion tracks are a nod to widely understood minimalism and a small protest against the obvious. Ambient textures mixed with real instruments and some more club oriented elements add up to a pretty coherent experiment that tries to put the overlooked in the spotlight. Nothing more.
